Frequently Asked Questions

Fitment, shipping, returns and warranty questions about OEM and aftermarket engine, transmission, drivetrain, cooling and fuel system parts at PowertrainPartsHQ.

Finding the right part

How do I match a part number to my vehicle?

Find the eight-character VIN on the dashboard or door jamb, then cross-check the OEM number stamped on the part you are replacing against the part number in our listing title. Where a listing covers several engine or transmission codes, those codes appear in the product description. If the original part carries no readable number, email us the VIN and a photo of the component and we will identify it.

Are these parts OEM, or aftermarket equivalents?

Both, and each product page says which. Genuine OEM listings are dealer-sourced parts carrying the manufacturer part number. Aftermarket listings come from established suppliers and are listed under their own number, with the OEM numbers they replace noted on the page so you can compare them directly against what came off the vehicle.

What should I verify before ordering an engine or transmission component?

Three things decide whether a hard part fits: the OEM number the vehicle calls for, the engine or transmission code stamped on the unit, and the position noted on the listing — left and right, upper and lower, or front and rear assemblies are separate parts and are not interchangeable. Internal transmission parts also vary by build date within the same model year, so confirm the code before ordering rather than after.

The listing I need is not on your site. Can you still source it?

Usually yes. Our published catalogue is a subset of what our suppliers stock, so a part that does not show up in search may still be available. Send the VIN, the OEM number and a short description or photo of the component, and we will confirm availability, price and lead time.

Shipping and delivery

How soon will my order ship?

In-stock orders are picked and handed to the carrier within 1-2 business days. Transit then runs 3-7 business days in the contiguous United States. Oversized items such as complete engines or transmission assemblies can need an extra day for freight paperwork, and we will email the tracking link as soon as the parcel leaves the warehouse.

Does my order qualify for free shipping?

Shipping is free on orders over $59. Below that threshold the carrier rate is calculated at checkout and shown before payment. Freight-class items that ship by truck are quoted separately because the carrier bills by weight and class rather than by order value.

Can you ship to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico?

Our checkout is configured for United States street addresses. For Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or overseas destinations, contact us first with the part numbers and quantities and we will quote carriage and confirm that the service reaches your address before you place the order.

Orders, returns and warranty

I entered the wrong address. Can the order still be changed?

Contact us immediately and we will correct the address or cancel the order while it is still in the picking queue. Once the parcel has been handed to the carrier it cannot be recalled, and the return procedure applies instead. Address corrections after dispatch may also carry a carrier fee.

The part arrived damaged or will not fit. What now?

Email us within 48 hours of delivery with the order number and photographs of the part and its packaging. Transit damage and mis-shipments are resolved at our cost, including return freight. If a part will not fit, send the VIN and the engine or transmission code so we can confirm the correct component exists before arranging the return.

Are sensors, electronics and fuel components returnable?

Electrical parts, sensors, injectors and fuel-system components are accepted only if they are unused and still in their sealed original packaging, because once fitted they cannot be resold as new. The same applies to gaskets and seals once the packaging is opened. Eligible items can be returned for 30 days from delivery.

Do you supply repair shops and resellers?

Yes. Workshops, rebuilders and resellers ordering in volume can request a quote by sending the part numbers and quantities required. Pricing tiers depend on the component and the order size, and standing accounts are available for repeat buyers.

Where do I find my invoice?

An order confirmation is emailed automatically when the order is placed, and the receipt is attached to the dispatch notification. If you need a copy, or need the invoice addressed to a business name or tax ID, email the order number and we will reissue it.

Whose warranty applies to these parts?

The manufacturer warranty applies where the manufacturer offers one, and we pass that coverage through and will help you file a claim. We do not add a separate store warranty on top. Wear items and consumables are normally excluded by the manufacturer once they have been installed.

Why do two listings with the same OEM number differ in price?

Genuine OEM and aftermarket versions of the same fitment are separate listings and never share a price, and the same component can also be offered by more than one aftermarket brand. Compare the brand in the title and the replaced-numbers list on each page rather than the OEM number alone.

Full delivery and return conditions are on our Returns & Shipping page.
